The Pacific County Department of Vegetation Management operates under an interdepartmental agreement with the Department of Public Works, to carry-out annual herbicide treatments of County right-of-ways. A bareground strip is maintained along the edge of County roads in order to protect driver visibility, allow proper drainage, reduce collisions with wild animals, provide safe space to pull-over during emergencies, and to prevent road surface degradation by plant roots.
